About us

We are a CQC registered online private sleep clinic. We are run by consultant sleep specialists who also hold posts within the NHS. We diagnose and treat a variety of sleep disorders with a particular focus on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

We offer video consultations and provide home sleep tests via the WatchPAT device that measures peripheral arterial tone (PAT), snoring, body position and movement, as well as the more standard oximetry and pulse rate. This gives comparable diagnostic sensitivity and specificity for OSA as a full in-hospital polysomnogram. It is also useful in the diagnosis of other sleep disorders.

For treatment, we provide CPAP devices with accessories, set-up and follow-up. We also advise on conservative management of OSA and can refer to partner services for dental devices for OSA and CBT-I for insomnia. Some patients choose to undergo investigation and diagnosis through our service, then be referred back into the NHS system for treatment, which we are happy to support.

Referrals

We accept referrals from doctors and practice nurses, as well as self-referral from patients. If making a referral it is helpful if the following information is provided –

  1. A brief history of the sleep disorder

  2. Past medical history including that of sleep disorders

  3. Drug history

  4. Alcohol and smoking history

  5. BMI and neck circumference

  6. Stop-BANG and Epworth Sleepiness Scores (proformas available in document library below)

  7. Whether the patient drives and if they hold a category 2 license (bus or HGV)

Regarding driving advice – patients must not drive if they feel excessively sleepy, regardless of the cause. The DVLA gives advice here.
