Foundations in Sleep Health

Sleep science, sleep medicine and practical sleep optimisation for health and wellbeing practitioners.

Sleep affects almost every aspect of our physical and mental health, from energy, mood, appetite, metabolic health and cardiovascular risk, to our recovery and performance.

Yet despite this, so many health and wellbeing practitioners receive no training in sleep.

Foundations in Sleep Health is an online course designed to help practitioners understand the background science of sleep and how it impact the wider areas of health and wellbing. It teaches on common sleep disorders, and how to support better sleep using practical and evidence-based approaches.

This course is aimed at a range of health and wellbeing practitioners including nutritionists, lifestyle medicine practitioners, psychotherapists, coaches, GPs, practice nurses, personal trainers and social prescribers.

The course is registered for 6 hours of CPD with the British Association of Nutritional Therapists.

Why does sleep matter?

Sleep is a vital process and affects every aspect of our health and wellbeing.

It is one of the six core pillars of Lifestyle Medicine and is closely linked to the other five pillars: nutrition, physical activity, mental wellbeing, healthy relationships and avoiding harmful substances.

Healthy sleep underpins so much of what we are interested in including mental health, diabetes risk, cardiovascular health, weight management, accident risk, productivity, performance and recovery.

This course explores these links and provides an effective and evidence-based approach for optimising your client’s sleep.
