Practice Plus Patients:
Book Your Home Sleep Test

Your pre-operative assessment has identified that you may be at increased risk of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). OSA is a common sleep disorder where the airway repeatedly closes during sleep, causing pauses in breathing and drops in oxygen levels.

Practice Plus has partnered with The Better Sleep Clinic to give you access to a discounted home sleep test and combination package, which you can book below.

This includes:
• A home sleep test delivered to your door
• Pre-paid tracked return
• Full analysis by a sleep specialist
• A detailed medical sleep report
• Results within 2 working days of us receiving back your test

If you have additional concerns about your sleep, you can also choose our combination package, which includes a 45-minute consultation with one of our specialist sleep doctors.

If you have any questions, you can call us on 0117 251 0404 or email us at info@thebettersleepclinic.co.uk

How Do I Use the Home Sleep Test?

We provide a returnable home sleep test kit that makes the entire process straightforward.

After completing your overnight test, simply place the device back in the pre-paid postage bag and dispatch it to us within 5 days.

What does the home sleep test measure?

The home sleep test measures a number of different things:

  1. Blood oxygen levels

  2. Heart rate

  3. Nervous system activity (called peripheral arterial tone, or PAT)

  4. Movement (known as actigraphy)

  5. Snoring pattern and volume

  6. Chest movement and breathing effort

  7. Body position

This information is put together to decide whether your body is going through repeated episodes of stopped breathing, or other changes associated with different sleep disorders. This is in addition to the fascinating details on your nightly sleep architecture including the amount of time spent in the different stages of REM and non-REM sleep (also known as light, deep and dreaming sleep).

 FAQs

  • We offer free next-day delivery.

  • We will get your results back to you within 2 working days, which is quicker than any other clinic.

Your sleep report is made up of your sleep test results and the information you provide on your patient registration form, so both of these need to be completed in order for us to finish your report.

  • Unfortunately, our tests are for over 18s only.

  • Yes, we are happy to provide the consultation over the phone instead – just let us know.

  • We offer CPAP therapy and can set you up usually within a week. If you would prefer treatment through the NHS we are happy to contact your GP with your sleep test results, diagnosis and recommendation for referral into an NHS clinic, however the waiting time can be many months.

  • Our home sleep tests use WatchPAT devices, which are also used in some of the more advanced NHS sleep clinics. Our sleep tests results are accepted in most NHS sleep clinics.

  • While there can be some variation in your symptoms from night to night, it is not often significant enough that a test would come up with a different result. It is extremely rare that a test would ever need repeating.

  • Once the test has been started, it cannot be paused and started again another night. However, our home sleep tests are very sensitive and accurate, and an entire night of sleep is not always needed in order to make a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea.
